If you are a kid and you are out there and you are chubby and not so cute and nerdy and shy and invisible and in pain, whatever your race, whatever your gender, whatever your sexual orientation, I'm standing here to tell you: You are not alone. Your tribe of people, they are out there in the world. Waiting for you. - Shonda Rhimes
Deciding on what quote I was going to use was tough. Everything this woman says feels as fresh as water produced from the best spring, crisp like clean linen, strong as the souls of our black ancestors and sweet like honeydew. I love Shonda Rhimes and she loves me. I've never met her and she doesn't know my name, but after reading Year of Yes I've fostered a friend in her, a sista' girl, a ROD. (If you don't know what ROD means you really need to read this book and dive into culture a little bit more.) I recommend Year of Yes. I recommend Year of Yes. I recommend Year of Yes. I said it 3x just to make sure you knew I recommend Year of Yes. Get it. Read it. Love it. Live it. Anytime I'm making significant changes in my life it seems like a book always finds me, never am I searching. It is almost as if the book appears in my hand and says, "This is what you're supposed to be reading, doing, living." I listened and haven't looked back since.
